PCHS Track & Field team competes at St. Henry Invitational & Mason County Royal Rumble events

The PCHS track and field team had a busy and successful week. They competed on April 15 at the St. Henry Invitational and on April 20 at the Mason County Royal Rumble.

At the St. Henry Invitational, the boys’ team placed 11th out of 13 teams. The top eight in each event received points for the team. Unfortunately, the meet was called for lightning before all events were completed.

The boys’ relay teams had a successful day. In the boys’ 4 X 800 meter run, Tanner Morris, Ben Brossart, Miles Collins, and Klaber Wolfe placed seventh. In the 4 X 200 meter relay, Drew Metzner, Brayden Tucker, Jesse Brantner, and Gabe Luton placed fourth. For the 4 X 100 meter relay Evan Stewart, Drew Metzner, Gabe Luton, and Sam Hodge placed sixth. Several team members placed in individual events. In the 100 meter dash, Brayden Tucker placed seventh while Drew Metzner placed eighth. In the 400 meter dash Evan Stewart came in eighth. For the 200 meter dash, Drew Metzner placed eighth.

Taking first place for the Mixed Unified 2 X 50 meter relay was Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner. Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker placed second. In the Unified 4 X 100 meter relay, Ruby Mullins, Levi Wolfe, Jeffery Simpson, and Kenadi Weinel placed first and Brian Lynch, Cataline Furman, Tevin Mudd, and Jesse Brantner placed second. In the 2X200 meter relay, Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner placed first, Jeffery Simpson and Cataline Furman placed second, and Ruby Mullins and Kenadi Weinel placed third. Shawn Redden and Dylan Beckett placed first in shot put. Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker placed first in long jump. Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner placed second in long jump.

At the Mason County Royal Rumble, the Cats competed against nine teams. The girls’ team placed seventh while the boys’ team placed sixth.

For the girls’ team, Katie Black placed fifth in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the 400 meter dash. Katie Black also placed sixth in pole vault. In the 4 X 200 meter relay, Baylee Fields, Katie King, Kylee Murray, and McKenna Morgan placed seventh. Aryanna Soden placed fifth in the girls’ 3200 meter run.

The boys’ relay teams had a great day. The 4 X 800 meter relay team consisting of Nick Black, Tanner Morris, Kaiden Espelage, and Levi Wolfe placed fifth. The 4 X 200 meter relay with members Evan Stewart, Sam Hodge, Drew Metzner, Brayden Tucker placed fourth. The 4 X 100 meter relay team consisting of Drew Metzner, Evan Stewart, Jamison Tucker, Jesse Brantner placed eighth. There were several individual points earners for the boys’ team. Brayden Tucker placed first in the 200 meter dash, second in the 400 meter dash, and ninth in the boys’ 100 meter dash. Evan Stewart placed fifth in the 400 meter dash. In the 800 meter run, Klaber Wolfe placed eighth. In the boys’ 200 meter dash, Drew Metzner took second. For the boys’ 3200 meter run, Tanner Morris placed fourth while Levi Wolfe placed sixth. The boys’ were successful at the field events too. Elijah Barhorst placed seventh in both the long jump and in the high jump. In pole vault, Jacob Craig placed sixth. Tyler Redden placed first in shot put.

The Unified team had a wonderful day. Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner placed first in the 2 X 50 meter relay while Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker placed third. In the 4 X 100 meter relay, Jesse Brantner, Tevin Mudd, Aryanna Soden, and Brian Lynch placed first while the team consisting of Jamison Tucker, Jeffery Simpson, Levi Wolfe, and Ruby Mullins placed second. Tyler Redden and Ruby Mullins placed first in the shot put while Shawn Redden and Dylan Beckett placed second. Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker placed first in the long jump. Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner placed second in the long jump.

“I am very impressed with our varsity athletes who competed at the Mason County meet!” according to Coach Sara Thaxton. “It has been the most successful meet so far. We brought home the most gold medals of the season.”

The track team will next compete at Boone County on April 27.
