Wood pleads guilty in Kentucky United States District Court Print E-mail

Donna J. Wood appeared in the Eastern District of Kentucky United States District Court in Covington on Monday, August 22, 2011.

Wood entered a plea of guilty to the charges as follows: The United States Attorney charges: From on or about March 2003, and continuing through on or about January 26, 2011, in Pendleton County, in the Eastern District of Kentucky, Donna J. Wood being an officer and employee of the United Kentucky Bank of Pendleton County, Inc., the deposits of which were than FDIC insured, did embezzle and misapply approximately $2,244,506.08, entrusted to the care and custody of the United Kentucky Bank of Pendleton County.

The penalty on the case if no plea agreements had been reached is not more than 30 years imprisonment, $1,000,000.00 fine or both and not more than 5 years supervised release. However, the above penalty will most probably not be used due to Wood cooperating with the court. The United States agrees that whatever the offense level is determined to be, and assuming that it is a level 16 or greater, the United States will move at sentencing to decrease the offense level by three levels based on the defendant’s timely notice of intent to plead guilty.

Wood will be sentenced on December 12. She was not taken into custody. She was released under supervision of a probation officer.
