PCHS Track & Field Track members set new personal records at Villa & Boone meets

It was another big week for the PCHS Track and Field team as they competed at the Villa Madonna Varsity Field meet and the Boone County Varsity Invitational last week.

“The team is making improvements every week and improving their standing among the other schools in the area,” says Coach Jennifer Redden. “We are having a lot more kids place this year than in years past. We have athletes setting personal records each week.”

On April 25, the track team participated in a field only event at Villa Madonna. The boys’ team placed sixth overall out of nine teams that participated. Point earners for the team were Tyler Redden placed who placed second in shot put, Dane Goetz who placed sixth in shot put, and Elijah Barhorst who placed eighth in long jump.

The team also participated in the Boone County Varsity Invitational on Saturday, April 27. Points were given to the top eight performers. The girls’ team placed seventh out of 11 teams participating. The girls’ 4 X 200 meter relay team consisting of Baylee Fields, Cataline Furman, Kylee Murray, and Kenadi Weinel placed ninth. Jayla McIlvain placed fifth in shot put.

The boys’ team placed fourth out of the 14 teams participating. The boys’ 4 X 800 meter relay team consisting of Kaiden Espelage, Ben Brossart, Miles Collins, Sam Hodge placed fifth. In the 4 X 200 meter relay, Drew Metzner, Gabe Luton, Sam Hodge, and Jesse Brantner placed second. The boys’ 4 X 100 meter relay team consisting of Evan Stewart, Gabe Luton, Sam Hodge, and Drew Metzner took fourth. In the 4 X 400 meter relay Kaiden Espelage, Miles Collins, Sam Hodge, Jesse Brantner placed fifth. Brayden Tucker placed sixth in the 100 meter dash, fourth in the 400 meter dash, and seventh in the 200 meter dash. Evan Stewart finished sixth in the 400 meter dash. Ben Brossart took 8th place in the 3200 meter run. Elijah Barhorst placed second and Lucas Dennison placed third in the long jump. Tyler Redden placed fourth in shot put.

The Unified team had a successful day. In the 2 X 50 meter relay, Jesse Brantner and Tevin Mudd placed second and Jamison Tucker and Jeffery Simpson placed third. In the 4 X 100 meter relay, Catalina Furman, Brian Lynch, Jesse Brantner, Tevin Mudd placed first while the team consisting of Kaiden Espelage, Ruby Mullins, Jamison Tucker, and Jeffery Simpson placed second. In the 2 X 200 meter relay, Jesse Brantner and Tevin Mudd placed second while Kaiden Espelage and Jeffery Simpson placed third. For the long jump, Ruby Mullins and Lucas Dennison took first, while Jeffery Simpson and Jamison Tucker placed second, and Dylan Beckett and Kaiden Espelage placed third. For shot put, Ruby Mullins and Tyler Redden placed first, while Tevin Mudd and Jesse Brantner placed second, and Dylan Beckett and Shawn Redden placed third.

The track and field team will participate in the Scott Classic meet on Saturday, May 4.
